If anyone knows how finding the perfect learning aid can transform your life it is Flip Flash Card’s creator Kim Halliday. In fact, it was his own personal success after struggling for years with dyslexia that has motivated him to create this innovative learning aid app.
You see, Kim spent his school years being what he thought was the “dumbest kid in the class”. His dyslexia meant that words and numbers just didn’t make sense to him. As a result, he left school the minute he turned 15. He believed that he might as well get into the workforce, as school was obviously a waste of time.
However, Kim still found that his dyslexia was still creating problems in the workforce. He had joined the merchant navy and was working on ships. It was here that Kim was introduced to flash cards as a learning aid.
Kim found that the flash cards changed everything for him. Suddenly he was able to learn in a way that he understood. And other people started to notice. They were so impressed that they wanted copies of his cards. But Kim had created the cards in his own language… spelling mistakes and all – and he was embarrassed to let anyone else see them.
Over time, as Kim gained confidence working through his engineering training and took up the position of Chief Engineer, he began to see the benefit of using flash cards to help his staff learn. At this time, Kim realised the unlimited potential to help many people with their learning needs and established Flip Flash Cards Pty Ltd in 2008 to create fun and challenging learning aids for the rapidly growing global education market.
Kim is passionate about helping anyone who wants to learn and reach their true potential. Kim has since made it his life’s purpose to learn everything he could about the different types of learning outcomes and the different types of barriers to learning. As a result, he is able to consult on a wide range of educational training, business training, occupational health and safety training and even recreational training such as scuba diving, through experience and knowledge gained.
A few years ago, Kim stumbled across another innovative use of the flash cards app. An aging family member was suffering from dementia. Kim created a pack of cards with all of the family members – their photos and their names and a bit about them. It was a huge sense of joy for Kim to see the pleasure and relief that his cards bought to this person. As a result, Kim now sees the potential for his Flip Flash Cards app to be rolled out to the aged care industry.
The Flip Flash Cards app is a powerful learning aid that can be used in any area of learning. However, it is not limited to being a learning aid. Flip Flash Cards also provides users with the opportunity to create their own revenue streams either by creating promotional business tools or by becoming professional card pack designers.
