Overcoming Learning Difficulties
Children and adults whom struggle with reading, writing, spelling and maths often get categorised as having dyslexia. Children who struggle to understand numbers and have trouble with counting are categorised as having dyscalculia. If struggling with some or all of the many facets that cover any learning difficulty, you are not alone.
Dyslexia and other learning difficulties are not diseases!
Research has indicated that we should not automatically assume that language, reading, writing, spelling and maths difficulties/differences associated with learning are deficits. Certain differences that individuals demonstrate in general learning difficulties or dyslexia may display some advantages though the processing of information and thinking. The key is encouragement and assisting children or adults to find alternate pathways to stimulate learning. Dyslexia can also be a gift, as we are all different.
We should encourage all to believe in themselves, their dreams and their journey.
